A stop at Telouet Kasbah provides insight into the rich history of the local pashas. Continuing through the picturesque Ounila Valley with its traditional clay villages, you will arrive at the UNESCO-listed Aït Ben Haddou, a striking fortified ksar and famous film location. Day 2: Boumalne Dades – Todra Gorges – Erfoud – Merzouga Desert
Following breakfast, travel along the “Road of a Thousand Kasbahs,” stopping to admire the unique rock formations of the Dades Valley, known as the “Monkey Fingers.” Continue to Todra Gorges, where sheer cliffs rise above the river and a short walk allows you to fully appreciate the dramatic scenery. Journey onward to Erfoud, renowned for its fossil workshops, before reaching Merzouga at the edge of the Sahara Desert. Here, camels await to take you on a trek across the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi, culminating in a magical sunset, followed by a traditional Berber dinner and overnight under a star-filled desert sky.
Day 3: Merzouga Desert – Sunrise – Nomads – Tissardmine – Khamlia
Early risers can witness sunrise over the Erg Chebbi dunes, an unforgettable experience as the desert comes alive with colors. Return to the village by camel for breakfast, then embark on a full day of desert exploration by 4×4, visiting Tissardmine Oasis and nearby fossil quarries. Meet nomadic families to learn about their lifestyle and traditions, and stop at Khamlia Village, originally settled by families from Mali, for tea accompanied by the spiritual sounds of Gnawa music. The afternoon allows free time to explore the dunes or relax before dinner and overnight near Merzouga.
